Calmed Inlet

Advantages of a Calmed Inlet Prevents the disturbance and re-suspension of fine sediments that may gather on the tank floor. Introduces oxygen to the lower layers of the tank which helps prevent anaerobic conditions (Remember, anaerobic conditions cause the “stinky, rotten smell”!)

How Calming Inlets work!
Water leaving a downspout filter enters the rainwater storage tank through a calmed inlet. The calming inlet causes rainwater to enter at the bottom of your tank versus the top. Without a calming inlet, your tank water may become anaerobic (lack of oxygen) which can cause a bad smell. Below is an illustration showing how the calmed inlet works with the Carat tank system.
